Mr Pastor is NOT Jesus Christ

I read an answer on Quora about the double life. A young girl’s experience with a youth pastor in training (who, after some years, became a full-time youth pastor and publicly made it known) whom she caught on a dating website saying some despicable things. He even got unimaginably vulgar.

An excerpt: ”I was dumbstruck. The man who had taught me the value of abstinence before marriage eight years prior was now asking me to f*ck. I had idolized him as the epitome of a good Christian man. I thought he was perfect. My whole view of everyone in the church kind of changed after that. I had always thought everyone I met in the church was kind pristine and Godly, and I started questioning them. I looked him up on my old friend’s Facebook friends list. I found him, and his profile said he was engaged to a beautiful girl. I was horrified. I lost a lot of my innocence and naïveté that day.”

After the read, I did not stick around to ask if her faith was still intact. But I hoped for her own sake; she pressed on and did not let that experience steal her relationship with God if she already had one.

This article brought me back to what I have been calling on deeply for a while now as I see Christians give different reasons why they are no longer in the faith

No question, in recent times, we have seen those supposed to represent Christ drop the ball by the minute, doing the exact opposite of what Christ Jesus stands for. And believe me, I have experienced this kind of people firsthand, from senior pastors, ministers, heads of departments and even members in the vineyard. So I cannot downplay what believers go through daily among people who are the so-called shepherd of the flock (Jeremiah 12: 10-11.) But if I had placed them anywhere close to where I should not have, I could have probably lost my stand long ago. So, imagine how much I thank God for Jesus (my faith), His Word, which does well to prepare me daily for whatever comes my way.

It is sad to watch how believers quickly forget the One who saved them and shift attention to people, which brings me to ask. How long will folk look at another human as their example to the point where they forget that only Jesus Christ deserves to be the only EXAMPLE to look up to and emulate, as the scripture rightly stated? Why should anyone idolize another? How long will folk blame others for their lack of devotion to Christ and the Word? What else will it require to accept that Jesus is the only perfect One? For how long shall we decide to dwell on the limitations of a human instead of studying the Bible and choosing to live like Christ and not like other Christians? How long shall we be like babes asking only for milk (Heb. 5:13, 1 Pet. 2:2)? How long shall we choose to forget that only JESUS CHRIST is the Author and the Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb.12:2) and not that, pastor, prophet, priest, group leader etc.?

Our conversation (citizenship, government)where our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is, and we are looking forward to his return from there. (Phil. 3:20). We must allow Jesus Christ to be all we see and stop distracting our lives with others who shut Christ out, struggling with various life issues thinking they can help themselves get better by their efforts. These people who have not come to accept the true meaning of being Christ-followers, people who have not entirely accepted Christ as their Lord and everything regardless of the grand or elegant positions they hold in the vineyard.

Jesus Christ never has and will never disappoint you. He will never exploit you. He is the unchanging changer because He alone is constant. He will not mess you up or distort your innocence; instead, He’ll keep your purity intact. And if anything has gone wrong, He’ll restore and make you whole. Hence, I advocate that we hold our gaze on Christ alone. He said, you all are classmates; I am your only example. In (Matt. 23:8-10), it’s written what Jesus said, “Don’t let people do that to you, put you on a pedestal like that. You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don’t set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do. No one else should carry the title of ‘Father’; you have only one Father, and he’s in heaven. And don’t let people manoeuvre you into taking charge of them. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ.

Many people are doing mere activities not because they have submitted totally to the Lord but for other understandings.

For example, someone higher in rank did not care to check the individual’s relationship and standing with God but still asked to feed the flock anyway, not concerned if it was junk or natural food or if the person providing for the congregation was feeding well.  In the case of this youth pastor, could it be that he genuinely did the work at a point in his life, but over the years, his eyes drifted away from Christ? And he chose to run away, not ask for help, and still hold the title of youth pastor, now entirely in love with the world and not Christ, but keeping up appearances among the folk as he secretly entertains his demons on a dating site(I guess you can call that the crisis of life.) It could be any of this or something else.

A believer must only look unto Jesus Christ alone, who knew no sin 2Corin. 5:21), did no sin (1Peter 2:22), and in him is no sin (1John 3:5) until he took upon himself my sins and yours on the cross (Romans 3: 21-26, 1 Peter 2: 24)

Be reminded: Your pastor, minister, pope, priest, or prophet is not CHRIST JESUS, so please stop putting so much of your life and faith in their hands. Jesus Christ is our ”Faith” according to Gal. 2:20

My honest thought. Reading the answer, I realized the lady was a young 13-year-old, and he was 21, but when she saw this man again, she was 20 and he 28. That is quite a long time in-between. Believes dwindles in seconds, so think in years. I cannot wrap my head around what went wrong; Christ alone can tell what happened to that youth pastor. For a brief moment, going by the Word of God, which is our standard, I asked could it have been different if the young female was taught the Word and had herself deep in the Holy Bible, looked more to Christ and less at a man, would she have been not so shocked at the outcome of things?

Our Lord Jesus said; many call my name, I will say, I know you not, workers of iniquity. Matt. 7: 21-23 “Knowing the correct password—saying ‘Master, Master,’ for instance—will not get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment, thousands strutting up to me and saying, ‘Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.’ And do you know what I am going to say? ‘You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don’t impress me one bit. You’re out of here. The apostle Paul also gave a piece of sound advice, “Continue to work out your salvation, with great fear and trembling.” (Phil 2;12b) These scriptures and others would have prepared her for the days ahead, including when she saw him manifesting all that is against being a Christ-follower.

Please allow only God and His written Word to be enough for you, not humans. No human born of a woman can do what Christ did for humanity on the cross, so stop falling in love with the idea of your ideal Christian brother and sister. The wise will agree that it is best to be in love with Christ. What else do we want Jesus to do for us that he has not already done? Should not a bride be only in love with her groom and no other? Make your priority straight, believers. Do not give in to human eloquence. Jesus Christ is enough; His Word is all you need to finish strong. Leave those leading the flock astray to God; if they think they are above God, they have something else coming. Speak up when you see things are not going according to the standard of the Word of God. Take your place as his bride, a bride who only does what her Husband authorizes and endorses. ‘Clean house’ when the need arises. But most importantly, do not place anyone on the pedestal of your life and always remember that he is not CHRIST JESUS and can never be Christ. Keep watch.

Much love and light. *Wink
